5 things I would do differently if I bought undeveloped land to start a farm again

Since July 2023, I have learned a LOT when it comes to buying undeveloped land, with a loan, to start a farm. Here are things I would do differently if I could go back in time.

I am not a person who lives with regrets - I think the feeling of regret is a wasted emotion. Everything you go through, whether it’s a win or a fail, teaches you something that enriches your life in the future. I welcome failure with open arms, which is why I jump head-first into things that other people think I am crazy for doing.

Failures also give us writers something to write about. As I sit here with 2025 looming on the horizon, at my laptop in chilly Upstate New York, I am reflecting on the 18-month undeveloped land journey that has changed my life forever - and for the better.

A lot of what I have learned was nowhere to be found online (or in any books I could locate). Some of what I learned was part of the necessary growing pains that come along with having a brand new structure built. Other things learned were unavoidable being only 30-years-old when I decided to get mixed up with 6.74 acres of undeveloped land.

I wouldn’t have it any other way!
