6 steps you MUST follow if you plan to farm or homestead in 2025
If you're planning to start a farm, homestead, garden, community garden, establish a micro-community, or live a more self-sufficient life in 2025, then this article is for you.
It’s crazy to think that only one-year ago, I still had not gardened, farmed, or grown a single plant from seed as I write this. It’s a testament to how much can change in a year, and I hope, exists as proof that this IS possible. Well, it’s possible one day at a time.
I have learned a nearly infinite amount of information when it comes to setting up homesteads, finding the right land, funding barn builds, bringing electricity to your property, and working through town permits. Most importantly, these steps will save you money from avoiding costly mistakes that can potentially irritate the zoning officers and local planning boards in your town. These boards can make-or-break your homesteading experience, which is why I want to be honest about the power they wield (hopefully not for long - we need to push back on their overreaching authoritarianism) and how you can avoid ticking them off accidentally.

Nothing worth having ever comes easy - but my goodness, I can attest, being outside in nature, on my land, with my animals, every single day is healing things in my body and mind I didn’t even know needed healing.
So with that, here are 6 critical steps to follow if you’re feeling the rural homesteading pull.
