Yes, the Amish brought electricity into my barn... here was the total cost

I did not know Amish electricians existed until April 2024. Here was the total cost to have electric brought from the road into my barn, plus outlets, lights, and power in the bunny shed.

I, like most of you reading this, did not think the Amish messed around with electricity when I hired them earlier this year. I figured they would either sub-contract out the job to a regular ‘English’ person - or that they would tell me that’s the one thing they could not assist me on when it came to having this structure built.

Once the barn was closed in and the interior work was coming to an end, the Amish brother duo in charge of the project told me the electrician would be coming by (towards the end of April) to get started on his duties.

I didn’t say a word or ask if he was Amish - I never wanted these guys to feel like they were some kind of freak show to me. On the contrary, I was so impressed and felt so immensely supported by them that I wanted to do everything I could to make them feel comfortable.

At the same time, I was going through the battle of my life with National Grid (the electric provision company) and the county to get electric to the front of my property. When I bought the land, I knew it was undeveloped, but I could also clearly see my neighbor had a pole and electric right next-door to me. I didn’t think it would be the disaster it ended up being.

The Amish had finished most of the property by the end of May, and there was still no electric at the road. I will never forget the day - ever - June 6, 2024 when National Grid pulled up to the front of my property (no warning - I had called dozens of times) to install the pole. I cried. And if you know me, you know I don’t cry in public… really ever. But I cried that day!

The Amish brothers called the electrician and a few days later, he was at my property.

Like the brothers, the Amish electrician was kind, informative, funny, and patient with me. He did an unbelievable job - everything is perfect.
